Resources and useful links

  • MAA Open Day 25th January, 2025

Thank you to everyone who attended our event on 25th January, either in person or via zoom.
We had some issues with sound on the day, however I hope you enjoyed the presentations and found the content useful.

Here are links and other information you may find useful

Dr. Samantha Davey (University of Essex), gave a presentation on the Artist Book project, a collaboration with Dr. Stella Bolaki (University of Kent). She discussed the project, the process and some of the benefits derived by participants.
Please visit their website on the Artist Book Project for more information on their powerful work.
If you have questions on the presentation or would like to know more the Artist book project and workshops, please contact Dr. Davey at smdave@essex.ac.uk.

We’re grateful to Rebecca and Johnny Rose (Swift Rocket Films) who offered us a private screening of The Removed – the powerful, award-winning short film on adoption loss. They’ve also given us permission to share the link to the film for anyone who would like to see it again.

Dr. Michael Lambert wasn’t able to join us ‘live’ on the 25th January, however he sent this pre-recorded presentation on case files and locating personal information, which we were able to share during the event.

Dr. Lambert has given MAA permission to share the video, and hopes the information will be useful for anyone who is searching.

Karen Constantine spoke about her background, her own experiences and her new book, Taken: Experiences of Forced Adoption and why she felt it needed to be written.  She also outlined where we are with the new Labour government, and what next steps we can take to secure an apology.
There is more information available on her website: Taken: Experiences of Forced Adoption.

We recently spoke to Dame Jasvinder Sanghera who is keen to support our campaign. She sent us this short message which unfortunately we were not able to share during the Open Day.

For more about Dame Jasvinder Sanghera, please visit her website.

We want to collect Half a Million Booties. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.
If you want to know more and perhaps contribute knitting, artwork or something else to the project, here’s a link to our Bootie Appeal page. Please add your name to the list if you want to get involved.
We want to stay in touch with everyone who gets involved with the project.
Thank you for your time, effort, skills (and wool). Here are some bootie patterns which may be useful.
