On 14th October, six MAA representatives met The Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities to discuss the campaign and press for a public apology with a range of support measures.
MAA representatives were Diana Defries, Judy Baker, Ann Lloyd-Keen, Jacqui Adams, Jo Richardson and Linda Johnson.
Ms Phillipson understood the issues and agreed to consult the Prime Minister. She also agreed to further meetings.
Though this initial meeting was inconclusive, we feel positive. We will continue to pressure the Minister and this government, and ask for further meetings to be scheduled as soon as possible.
ITN’s Sarah Corker provided media cover of this the event. Following the meeting she interviewed some of those present.
We’ll keep you updated as this situation unfolds.
