Taken not Given

This song is by Phil Vincent, who generously shared part of his story:

“I was born in 1954 and at 3 months I went for adoption.
Over the years I have had times where I had emotional issues over my adoption, but many times I have wondered how mothers that had their babies taken away coped.

Back in August 2022, I put some words on a note in my phone with the view to writing a song: taken away, sorrow, tears, pain. Then from time to time I added to that.

Recently I heard an interview, which gave me a push to finish the song.

I am not a professional musician, actually I didn’t start playing guitar until I was aged 59.
Anyway, the song title is Taken, Not Given. I have found doing this quite cathartic.
I believe it could resonate with a lot of women, and adoptees.”
